Joyce Tobin Childers

Joyce Tobin Childers passed away peacefully on February 2, 2021 at her home. She was born May 27, 1924 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mi to Robert and Lucetta Tobin. She graduated from high school in Silver Spring, MD, and came to Chicago, IL in 1942. Joyce attended the University of Chicago and graduated from the X-Ray school in 1946. She worked ten years in X-Ray at University of Illinois R&E hospital. In 1951, she married William Boyd Childers. They moved to Zion in 1957. She worked in X-Ray at Zion Benton Hospital and Victory Memorial Hospital, retiring from VMH Central Sterile Service Dept in 1995. She is survived by a son, Brian, three grandchildren; Melissa (Tyler), Sara(Darrell), and Jacob (Katie). She was blessed with four great-grandchildren; Noah, Natalee, Owen, and Nash. She cherished her family and friends. She will live on thru the lives she touched and enjoyed. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, and a brother. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.at Congdon Funeral Home located at 3012 Sheridan Rd Zion, IL. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park Zion, IL.
