Joyce Kafar, 65, of Zion, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, Illinois.
Joyce was born January 26, 1942 in Rector, Arkansas and came to Zion at the age of 16. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Zion and she retired in 2006 after 27 years at Zion-Benton Township High School.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; children Kathryn (Robb) Hetlet of Antioch, Illinois, Angela (Michael) Linsky of Beckmeyer, Illinois, Jeffery (Michelle) Adams of Zion, Illinois, Richard (Natalie) Kafar Jr. of Burlington, Wisconsin and Cory (Rachel) Kafar of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; thirteen grandchildren Michael (Kari) Cowart, Crystal Cowart, Jennifer (Ryan) Phillips, Steven Cowart, Angelika Linsky, Amanda Hetlet, Andrew Adams, Casie Adams, Tyler Adams, Kya Kafar, Kaden Kafar, Briggs Kafar and Kendall Kafar; five great-grandchildren Quinten Cowart, Kali Cowart, Kaitlyn Phillips, Brooke Phillips and Hunter Cowart; and siblings Larry (Mary) Jackson of Gurnee, Illinois, Louise (the late Enis) Hinson of Indiana, Linda (Clarence) Gibson of Tennessee and Mary Jackson of Pigot, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Fred and Viola Jackson; and by ten other siblings.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 12, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 3001 9th Street, Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Dr. Michael Brown officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, May 15th, in Rector, Arkansas, at Woodland Heights Cemetery.
