Julius Vern Hoppe, 81, of Zion, IL died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at home with his family by his side. He was born December 18, 1934 in Waukegan and was raised in Zion. Julius graduated from Zion Benton Township High School and married Natsuko Fujinawa on October 17, 1958. He served with the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1963 and retired from Com-Ed in 1990. Julius lived a local modest life and frequented N&T’s, Bob and Ann’s, and CJ’s Coffee and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Natsuko; children, Dennis Hoppe, Deanna McCartney, Donna Napier, and Debbie (Marty) Smith; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Phil Hoppe, Jim (Penny) Hoppe, and Bill (Cindy) Hoppe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tim; and sister-in-law, Barbara Hoppe. A visitation will take place Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Northshore Garden of Memories, 1801 Green Bay Road, North Chicago, IL.
