Karen Diliberti

August 29, 1948 — April 15, 2025

Karen Ann Lee Diliberti ,76, passed away surrounded by her family on April 15, 2025 in Kenosha, WI.

She was born August 29, 1948 to Marion L. Lee and Mildred E. Gray in Spring Valley, IL. Karen graduated from Illinois State University, class of 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, she married Charles "Chuck" Diliberti on February 27, 1970.

Karen worked as a nurse and secretary for the Zion Elementary Schools. Upon retiring from the school system she also worked for Maves Chiropractic Clinic providing insurance and billing support and then went on to work at Cancer Treatment Centers of America handling payroll. Upon retirement Karen and her husband enjoyed many travel adventures. They particularly enjoyed time in New Mexico and Arizona during the winter months attending Chicago Cubs Spring Training and visiting lifelong friends. Their cabin up north was an enjoyable getaway for her and Chuck whenever possible. When visiting her family's farm she enjoyed going back to her roots of assessing the crops, and spending time with family. Karen's talents were widespread as she loved to spend time gardening both flowers and vegetables, always willing to make time for a card or board game, loved puzzles, was an amazing baker, cake decorator, sewing, knitting, and crochet. She loved to attend and support her children when they were younger and her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, despite the weather she would be there. She also enjoyed the gathering of family and kids to watch any and all sporting events on TV.

She is survived by her children, Adam (Theresa) Diliberti and Kim (Juan) Luna; grandchildren, Tyler (Natalie Walls), Sophia and Karlina Luna, Isabella and Dominic Diliberti; great grandchild, Beckham Luna; and her brother Max (Joan) Lee of California.

Karen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years Charles “Chuck” Diliberti; and her parents. Karen will be missed for providing very natural guidance and the foundation of always being inclusive. This led to many “bonus children” throughout the years. Spending time with family and friends was of great importance to her and one of life’s simple pleasures that any and all should embrace. To quote Karen, “Love the one you are with. Give them a hug, a kiss and say please and thank you everyday. Don’t take any of it for granted as you don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Love the world and all your people that are in it!”

Karen's life will be celebrated on May 25th, 2025 starting at 2pm as an open house at her residence in Wadsworth.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to Karen Kares. This foundation will be created to honor Karen’s wishes to contribute to local businesses and education programs associated with her wide variety of interests.
