Karol Brandt

1946 — May 21, 2014

Karol Brandt, age 67 went to be with her Lord on May 21, 2014. She was a lifetime resident of Lake County, IL. living most of her life in Zion. Karol graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1964. Karol attended the College of Lake County to obtain an Associate of Science degree. She then attended Northeastern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. She was certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist as a Histologist. She was a member of Toastmasters International and the American Chemical Society. She worked at Abbott Laboratories for 37 years. Karol attended and became a member of Christ Community Church for her lifetime. She taught Sunday school for 25 years. Karol was involved in variety service activities, such as AWANA, VBS. Other organizations that she served were PADS, to provide shelter to the homeless, she also volunteered at associations to provide abortion alternatives and resources for women with unplanned pregnancy at the Kenosha Care Net and the Family Resource Center of Zion. Karol and her husband Tom went on many overseas trips to give practical support to ZEMA (Zion Evangelical Ministries of Africa) at Sunbury Christian Camp and other locations in Republic of South Africa. Karol is survived by her much-loved husband Thomas Brandt, her son Alan Stried, Alan's wife, Lynn Stried, by Karol's brother, Kenneth and Mary Anderson, sister, Ruth Klabunde, Uncle Gerald Sattler, Aunt Carol, adored Aunt June, Aunt Rae, Aunt Chris, in-laws Dixon and Felicia Brandt, Cheryl Diaz, Karleen Brasseux, Carl Muma, Nancy McQueen, Bob McQueen, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, her very good friends, Diane Brewington, Ben Cole, Beth Cole, Brittany Cole, Brianne Cole, Sara Cole, James Cole, Nate Hiett and by her very caring Christ Community Church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mildred Anderson, sister, Pauline, grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Sattler, Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Anderson, brother-in-law, Dennis Klabunde and her niece, Debra Klabunde. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mike McDowell, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Family Resource Center of Zion 1622 23d Street, Zion, IL 60099 or Love, Inc. Lake County, P0. 7796 Gurnee, IL 60031.
