Kay (nee Herdrich, Litwin) Sussman, 77, of Zion, IL died August 24, 2016 at The Grove at the Lake in Zion, IL.
Kay was born March 26, 1939 in Chicago, IL and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She was born into the Jewish faith, but over many years, attended many different churches. Kay worked at Sheridan Heath Care Center, now The Grove at the Lake, and Rolling Hills as a nursing assistant in the late 1970's, early 1980's. She loved knitting, watching TV, was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan, and was a champion swimmer who won awards in high school. She also loved eating Chinese food from Whey Chey and pizza from Pizza House. She adored her three children and their spouses.
Survivors include her children, Steven (Pam) Sussman, Roxanne Denise (Scott Grissom) Elliott, and Dawn (Robert) Berry; an aunt, Sylvia Litwin; cousins, Mira, Gene and Howard Litwin; and many cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Ida Herdrich; adopted brothers, Max, Norman, Sol, Harry, Joe, and Morris Litwin (Ida’s Brothers); grandparents, Jacob and Minnie Litwin; and various pets over the years.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sussman family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you from the Sussman family.
