Kevin Joel Swindle, 40, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, gained his angel wings on October 5th, 2016.
He was born on February 22, 1976 in Waukegan, IL. He was a 1994 graduate of ZBTHS where he had too many friends to mention. Yes, Kevin was the life of the party. Kevin loved baseball -the Chicago Cubs (Go Cubs Go) but his favorite player was MJ Swindle, #17. He coached MJ to pitch from the time he was old enough to sit up by himself (and maybe a bit before). He was at every practice and every game – pacing the sidelines. Kevin enjoyed his Bears on Sunday afternoon regardless of how good or bad they played, he was a Bears fan (Bear Down). He enjoyed working in the yard and listening to old country music. His favorite place to visit was Alabama – give him a cabin in the woods, a porch, and some Hank Jr. and he was happy. He was a country boy at heart and we imagine this is what his heaven looks like.
He is survived by his son, McKinley Joel Swindle (his pride and joy), his wife Roxanne (Spiller) Swindle, his parents Betty Jean (Wilson) Swindle and Gene P. Swindle, two brothers Keith (Debbie) Swindle and Kenny (Dawn) Swindle, four nephews Tyler, Troy, Brandon, Nathan, and Ryan – two nieces Kristin and Lindsey, his best friend Travis Tennyson, and too much extended family to list, Kevin was loved by so many.
He was preceded in heaven by his maternal grandparents Jimmy Wilson and Mavis (Wilson) Ridings, Eunice Swindle and Audrey Hamm, as well as his G'ma, Florence Watts whom he loved so very much, as she did him. I trust the duo are together, never to be apart again.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Corley, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to MJ Baseball Camps has been suggest.
