Kyle Ross Anderson

August 3, 1983 — June 9, 2024

Kyle Ross Anderson, age 40, passed away suddenly on June 9, 2024. He was born on August 3, 1983 to Rob and Kathy Anderson in Waukegan, IL. He was Rob’s birthday present that year and brought much joy to his siblings, Robby and Lisa.

Kyle moved with his parents to Grand Rapids, MI for his high school years and then joined the Navy on November 2, 2004 where he served proudly until March 2010. Kyle enjoyed talking about the different places he was able to visit during that time. His favorite place was Norway because he said that everyone there was so polite. Following his time in the Navy, Kyle studied “awesome chef stuff” (his words) at the Culinary Institute of Virginia. Kyle had a passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing his creations with his friends and family. Kyle was an avid reader. During one of his last conversations with his sister, Lisa, about life, he said “I just want to read more books. The insane knowledge that is available is unknowable.” He also enjoyed playing video games with family and friends, karaoke, trivia, collecting Pop figures, and helping out at the family apple orchard. If you knew Kyle, you knew he loved his people deeply and he will be sorely missed by many.

He is survived by his parents, Rob and Kathy (nee Maki) Anderson; brother, Rob (Tracy) Anderson; sister, Lisa (nee Anderson) Cain; grandmothers Laila Maki and Joan Anderson; nephews, Alex Cain, Mattias Anderson, Jonas Cain, and Ty Cain; and many more family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Anderson and Mattias Maki.

A memorial will be held at North Prairie Methodist Church in Winthrop Harbor, IL on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Visitation at 1 pm followed by a service at 2 pm.
