Larry Boren

Larry Boren, 73, of Wadsworth, IL, died surrounded by his family July 29, 2016, at Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines, IL. Larry was born October 5, 1942 in Booneville, MS. He moved with his family (military) to Germany at age 12. For the next 6 years, Larry lived in both Germany and the United States. Before returning to the United States, Larry met the love of his life, Hannelore Meier in Regensburg, Germany. They married on August 19, 1961 in Zion and have lived in the Zion and Wadsworth area since. Larry served as a volunteer firefighter for the Zion Fire Department and later became a full-time firefighter/Paramedic working his way up to the rank of Captain. Larry retired in 1994. In addition to spending time with his family, after retirement Larry enjoyed playing golf locally and at his winter home in Brooksville, Florida. Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hannelore; son Richard (Connie) Boren of Wadsworth; grandchildren Scott and Karolina Boren; and a brother James (Karen) Spencer of New Site, MS. Larry was preceded in death by his son Christopher; brother Don; mother Lillian Spencer; and Step-Father W.R. Spencer. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL.
