Larry Miller

Larry Miller, 63, of Zion, died on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at home following a long illness. Larry was born February 25, 1945 in Wilmington, Delaware and grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa. After over 22 years in the United States Navy, he retired in 1982 at Great Lakes, Illinois as a Chief Petty Officer. He then went to work at Abbott Laboratories as an Engineer and retired 10 years later with a medical disability. He was a member of the Winthrop Harbor V.F.W. and the Zion American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Shirley; one daughter Carrie D. Lee of Zion; three grandchildren John Swan and James Swan both of Waukegan, Illinois and Destiny Swan of East St. Louis, Illinois; one brother John (Barbara) Miller of Hollywood, Maryland; two sisters Charity (Denny) Paglia of Collins, Missouri and Nancy Miller of Marshalltown, Iowa; and two nephews John Miller Jr. and Cory Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Gail (nee Cole) Miller. Visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2008, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the Congdon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, Illinois. Memorial donations to the American Heart Association have been suggested.
