LaVonne R. "Bonnie" Birky, 93, of Pompano Beach, FL, and formerly of Beach Park, IL, went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2012, in Pompano Beach. Interment took place next to her late husband, Harold, in Florida.
Bonnie was born March 21, 1919, in Zion, IL, and married Harold Birky on September 1, 1938. She
formerly worked as a secretary for the Beach Park Schools. Bonnie was member of Grace Missionary Church in Zion until 1979 and then with the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
She was an avid supporter of missionaries.
Survivors include her son, Harold (Linda) Birky Jr. of Wadsworth, IL; son-in-law, Lew (Laurie) Edwards of Beach Park, IL; grandchildren, Russ (Tara) Edwards, of Anchorage, AK, Rayanne (Kirk) Henderson of Trevor, Maison Crowe of Milwaukee, WI, J. Todd Birky of Big Sandy, TN, Chris (Christy) Arnold of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and Karissa Birky of Lindenhurst, IL; ten great-grandchildren; and other family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; daughter, Connie Edwards; and by two brothers
and one sister.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Missionary Church, 1415 27th St., Zion, IL, with Pastor Doug Carlson, officiating. Entombment was held earlier at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Pompano Beach, FL. Memorial donations are suggested to the Grace Missionary Church.
