Lawrence "Larry" Shanteau, 73, a resident of Zion, passed away peacefully with family on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Hospice Alliance in Kenosha. Born on October 31, 1951 in Waukegan, IL. Larry attended Waukegan public schools, graduating from Waukegan Township High School in 1969.
Larry spent his years working for Jewel Foods and Frito Lay. He was fun loving, humorous, and fun to be with. He enjoyed making people laugh.
His love for sports remained a constant throughout his life with a particular passion for the St. Louis Cardinals. He spent many years coaching Little League Baseball for Beach Park. Larry also had a deep passion for reptiles and amphibians, especially turtles! Larry was a huge music enthusiast. He loved live music, attending concerts, and supporting local bands.
Larry will be deeply missed by his three sons, Deryk (Rebecca) Shanteau, Noel (Jessica) Shanteau, Cameron (Alison) Shanteau; his former spouse and good friend, Charlotte Alden Shanteau; grandchildren, Jules, Ruthi, Jonas, and Briar; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Michalski; and brother, Mark Shanteau.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Kenosha Hospice Alliance.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099.
