LeRoy L. Davis, 88, of Zion, IL, died on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at home.
He was born May 18, 1920 in Zion and lived most of his life in Benton Township. LeRoy served with the United States Army during World War II, spending three years in the Pacific Theatre. He owned and operated Davis Truck Service in Zion for many years. He was also Past President of Zion Lions Club and belonged to various trucking organizations over the years.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Evelyn E. Davis; children, Leah (Dick) Miller of Broomfield, CO and Wendi Davis of Arvada, CO; two grandchildren, Dana (William) Vernon and Bradley (Kristi) Miller; four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Christina Vernon and Ryan and Megan Miller; and one sister, Lorraine Larsen of Zion.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jacqulin Sue Davis; and his parents, Frank and Anna Davis.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at 2.00 p.m. in the Lloyd Chapel of Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, with Pastor Jon Wiziarde officiating. Private interment will be later at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
