LeRoy Burton Yarbrough, 73, of Winthrop Harbor, IL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013, at Hospice Alliance House in Kenosha, WI.
He was born November 26, 1939 in Hall Town, AL, and graduated from Vina High School in 1957 in Vina, AL. He then moved to Zion in 1958 where he met and fell in love with Rachel Davis of Zion. They were married in 1961 and moved to Winthrop Harbor in 1962. He was a faithful member for 52 years of Meadowridge Baptist Church (formerly Zion First Baptist). LeRoy retired in 1988 after 30 years of service at Chrysler Motors in Kenosha, WI. LeRoy was a loving and faithful husband, devoted father and was much loved by his grandchildren. He grew up with a passion for Gospel music and had a love for singing in his church choir. His hobbies included bike riding with friends and tending his garden.
Survivors include his wife Rachel; children Jeffrey (Lynelle) Yarbrough, Christina (Larry) Machalski, Melinda (Vincenzo) Aloisio, and Amanda (Ron) Mika; grandchildren Ben and Davis Yarbrough, Ryan and Paige Rendall, Elena and Gabriel DeRohan, and Lily and Samuel Mika; and siblings JoAnn (Willie) Smith, Jim (Mary) Yarbrough, Deloris (Gene) Carter, and Rita Bohannon.
He was preceded in death by one grandson Elias Yarbrough; and his parents Florence and Elmer Yarbrough.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at Meadowridge Baptist Church, 4500 Rt. 173, Zion, IL, with Dr. Michael Brown officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 11:00 until time of services.
