Leslie L. Coles

Leslie L. Coles, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, passed away of July 6th, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Hospital, Kenosha, Wisconsin, with his children by his side. He was born September 10th, 1948 in Portland, Oregon, the son of Donald J. Sr. And Klyda Kathleen (nee Ratliff) Coles. He retired from the U. S. Navy in 1991 after over 23 years of service and went on to work for the County of Lake at various facilities as a maintenance mechanic. Les enjoyed making wood projects, watching the Chicago Bears and most importantly spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children Nicole (Darrell King) Thiry, Michelle (Neil) Metzger; Michaelynn (Derrick) Vavra, Brian (Catherine) Coles; Patrick Coles; and Joseph (Katlyn) Coles. Grandchildren Philip Thiry III, Richard Thiry, William Metzger, Wyatt Metzger, Wiley Metzger, Derrick Vavra Jr., Ian Vavra, Jacob Vavra, Zachary Vavra, Simon Coles, Julie Coles, Abigail Coles, Madison Coles, and Carson Coles. Siblings Donald J. Coles Jr., Cory  (Darla) Coles, Kim Coles, Mark Coles, Daraleen Coles, and Ronald (Doris) Coles as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Les is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Douglas Coles. Per Les’ wishes, cremation will take place and a Memorial Service with military honors will be held at a later date.
