Leslie John Garbett, 53, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, entered Heaven and into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 24, 2019.
He was born in Ishpeming, MI on July 28, 1965. Shortly after birth, he and his family moved to Zion, IL. Leslie graduated from Zion Benton Township High School in 1983 and is remembered by his class as one of ZB’s favorite football stars. After high school, Leslie became a bricklayer having a successful career through Local 20 Brick and Stone Masonry. He took great, and well-deserved, pride in his craftsmanship.
Leslie is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lorna (Stried) Garbett; his son, Tyler (Deisy) Garbett; and his daughter, Tara (Kyle) Davis. He was endlessly heard talking about his kids and how extremely proud he was of them, and will eternally be.
Leslie is also survived by his ultimate joys, his grandchildren, Genevieve, Giovanni and Giselle Garbett, and all of his four-legged grandkids in GA. Honorable mention, Charlie, the pig.
Leslie’s family also includes, aunts, uncles and cousins in MI; nieces and nephews in IL and WI; mother-in-law, Kaye Stried; sisters-in-law, Shelly (Jerry) Koskinen and Marsha (Walter) Stried, and many treasured friends.
Leslie has been reunited in Heaven with his grandparents (special mention, his Grandma Hill), his mother and stepfather, Sharon and Don Gignac; his father, William Garbett; his sister, Lisa Knoll; his brother, Billy Garbett; and his father-in-law, Marvin Stried.
Services will be held at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL 60099 on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. service and sharing from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.
