Levonia "Paul" French, 59, of Beach Park, IL passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at home.
Paul was born to the union of David French and Tressie Davis in Coldwater, MS, on January 18, 1951.
Paul spent his early years in Mississippi, later moving to St. Louis, MO, where he graduated from McKinley High School.
Paul was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age.
Paul moved to IL in 1973. He met his loving wife of 22 years, Rosetta, and they happily married on June 18, 1987. He and his family eventually made Beach Park their home.
Paul worked over 30 years at and retired from Great Lakes Naval Base. He most recently worked part-time at Home Depot in Waukegan, IL.
Paul loved fishing, traveling back to his birthplace to visit family and often enjoying a trip tot the casinos. As well, he loved family gatherings and striking up the grill to feed the many that came by for family events and holidays. He was very close to his father-in-law and mother-in-law, whom he helped care for in his home until she passed only three days prior to him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Rosetta; two sons. Michael (Landra) and Quincy; three daughters, Erica, Latrice and Victoria; nine grandchildren Ashley, Asia, Keywan, My'Kale, Ky'Ana, Keisha, Jordel, Aiden and JaMere; two brothers Michael and Jeffrey (Kathy); two sisters, Juanita and Darlene, one sister-in-law Cheryl and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his beloved parents David French and Tressie Davis, whom raised a great son, father brother and husband (a true gentleman); sister, Naomi; and brother Frank.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Friday April 16, 2010 at Waukegan Community Church, 1016 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, IL 60085, with Pastor Fred Olbeton officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
