Lila S. Lehman

1934 — September 15, 2015

Lila S. Lehman, 81, of Zion, IL died September 15, 2015 at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. Lila was born June 29, 1934 in Waukegan, IL and graduated from Zion Benton Township High School. She married Robert D. Lehman Sr. on April 11, 1953 in San Diego, CA. Lila was an active member of Christ Community Church. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandma, great grandma and friend. She loved and genuinely cared for people. One way she expressed her love was by cooking and baking for them. She loved to make tarts, brownies, and of course her famous "Banana Cream Pie" that she was known for. She sang in the choir for a time, and attended Bible studies where she developed deep friendships. She loved her girlfriend time! She belonged to a club of ladies, girlfriends from high school from the Class of 1952. Every month they enjoyed spending time and catching up with one another. Lila loved to travel. Enjoyed weekends at the Cottage in Wautoma, WI, fishing trips up to Raining Lake MN, Florida trips with family, weekend trips with friends, and in later years had the opportunity to be a "snowbird" in Gilbert Arizona. She loved the cubs and was a devoted fan. Enjoyed taking grand kids to the games and also attended games with the Senior Group from Zion. Lila is survived by her husband, Robert D. Lehman Sr.; children, Dale (Suzi) Lehman, Daniel (Belisa) Lehman, David (Susan) Lehman, and Deborah (Charles) Miller; grandchildren, Brad Lehman, Regina (Phil) DeLaurentis, Patrick, Jason, and Kimberly Paulausky, Bethany (Matt) Gainsford, Rebecca (Joel) Christian, Michael and Jesse Lehman, Kyle (Erinne) Lehman, Ryan (Holly) Lehman, and Nicholas and Marissa Miller; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Atwood (Beverly) Pitcher, Donald (June) Pitcher, and James (Jeanne) Pitcher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Violet Pitcher. The family wishes to thank the Cancer Treatment Center in Zion for the care she received and for extending her life. We also want to thank Seasons Hospice for the excellent care she received these last couple of months.
