Lillian Doris Nicholson, (nee Madison), fondly called "Sis", went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Lillian was born March 8, 1923, in Highwood, IL. Current residence: Heaven. Lillian was married to Robert Nicholson in 1942. Lillian was the first Nurse's Aide in Condell Hospital in 1941. She joined the United States Navy in 1943 and served in World War II. Lillian served as a Corp Wave in Bethesda, MD, and a dispensary at Blimp Air Base, Lake Hurst, N.J. PhM3/C discharged in 1945. Mom was honored to be the first Legionnaire in the Highwood Legion as an honorary member. Lillian was under the command of Mr. Bruno Bertucci, Commander of Post 501 of the Highwood American Legion. Survivors include her four daughters, Lynnette (Gary) Nepstad of Beach Park, IL, Cheryl (Jeff) Thompson of Camanche, IA, Bonita (Tom) Williams of Bristol, WI, and Marcia (Don) Grissom of Wadsworth, IL; two grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Nepstad of Beach Park, IL, and Robert (Estela) Grimes of Camanche, IA; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Grimes of Waukegan, IL, and Jessica and Robert Grimes of Camanche, Iowa; and one great-great grandchild, Sierra Grimes of Waukegan, IL. Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Reuben Nicholson; father and mother, Harry and Lillian Madison; and brother, Frank Madison. Lillian's life was totally dedicated to the Lord. She was a Prayer Warrior with no Church Boundaries-Lillian belonged to the ages. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 19, 2011, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Beach Community Church, 37282 N. Green Bay Rd., Beach Park, with Christopher Nepstad, her grandson, officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park in Beach Park.
