Lois Evangeline Lother, (nee Bright), 84, of Zion, Illinois, passed peacefully into her Lord's open arms on October 2, 2012.
Lois was born December 13, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York. She moved to Zion in April of 1934 with her parents Laura O. and Eric D. Bright and family. She graduated from Zion Benton High School in 1946 and soon after married Dale O. Lother on October 21, 1947 at the Christian Catholic Church (now Christ Community Church) in Zion, Illinois. She was formerly employed by Johns-Manville Corp in Waukegan and Zion Nursing Home In Zion where she was able to use her God given organizational and managerial skills as office manager. She also enjoyed helping her husband, Dale, with his electrical contracting business. She received enjoyment when baking and entertaining for family and friends, and her happiest moments were spent supporting her loving family.
She is survived by her son, Brian and his wife, Julie; four grandsons, Chad (Nicole), Jon (Jennifer), Troy (Karie), and Seth Lother and one granddaughter, Lisa (Kevin Martin) Lother; six great-grandchildren, (soon to be seven), Zayne, Rylan, Tayler, Trezdon, Bryce, and Ty; two brothers-in-law, Carroll (Evelyn) and Milford (Nancy) Lother; and numerous Australian relatives that she visited and kept in close contact with.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; son, Keith; daughter-in-law, Kristie; her parents, Eric D. and Laura O. Bright; brother, L. David Bright; and two sisters, Virginia Larsen and Gwendolyn Myers.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion with prior visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to the Camp Zion Ministry of Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Dr. Zion, IL 60099.
