Lorna C. Hoyt was born in Cuba City, Wisconsin to Alma L. (Foley) and Floyd W. Ostrander on November 14, 1927. Nell, as she was known, was the wife of James L. Hoyt for over 64 years. They raised seven children: Arland, Audrey, Alan, Annette, Arnold, Arthur, and Andrew.
Music was a big part of Nell's life, her first love was singing and she learned to strum a uke young in life for accompaniment. She and her brother, Gene, spend a good deal of time playing and singing when they were n young.
Upon retirement Nell and Jim moved to Mobile, Alabama. Both were involved in two music clubs and Nell played and sang up until the day of her home going.
She will be missed by her family to be sure but we know Mom & Dad are happy up there and making music once again.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband, James, a son Arland, a daughter Annette, 3 grandchildren, Heidi Hoyt, Mota and Jenny Ries. She leaves behind 5 children, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a sister- in-law, Dorothy Ostrander.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL 60099. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
