Louis Jack "Louie" Kerpan, 57, of Zion, IL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Vista East Medical Center, in Waukegan, IL.
Louis was born March 15, 1954, in Waukegan, and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1973. He married Melba Jean Creekmore on April 23, 1983, at the Gurnee Community Church in Gurnee. Louis was an active member of Community Christian Church in Waukegan where he volunteered for PADS. His former employers were Temple Steel, Libertyville, IL, Cherry Electric, Waukegan, IL, and Williams Electronics, Gurnee, IL.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Melba Jean; daughters, Jeanna (Aaron Beauchamp) Kraly and Julie (Ryan Kelly) Strickland, both of Winthrop Harbor, IL; grandchildren, Danaca (David) McEuen, Veronica and Sabrina Kraly, Natalya Beauchamp (on the way), Mathias,Mitchell, and Merrick Strickland, and Brennan Kelly; sisters, Judy (Chuck) Fredbeck of Waukegan, Kim (Joe) Knobbe of Zion, Laurie (Dan) White of Lindenhurst, Lynn Turco of Tampa, FL; brother, Jim (Kathy) Kerpan of Fulton, MS; nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and other family. He will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his father Louis Kerpan; mother and step-father, Jackie and Ed Mjelde; father-in-law, Melton Creekmore; granddaughter, Alyssa Jean; brother-in-law, Wayne Turco; a special aunt, Deanna Fasig; grandparents; and a baby brother, Kirk Kerpan; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Community Christian Church, 1400 Yorkhouse Rd., Waukegan, with Pastor Tim Knight, officiating. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers please make donations to any of the Glioblastoma Foundations for research, family to cover medical bills or Community Christian Church.
