Louis R. "Lou" Neal, 80, of Zion, IL, died on Monday, June 29, 2009, at home.
Lou was born September 18, 1928, in Chicago, IL, and was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park. He married Ann M. McNeany on July 2, 1949, at Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan. Lou retired from OMC, and previous to that he worked for International Harvester and ARMCO Tools as a mechanical engineer. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Lou enjoyed raising horses, and traveling with his late wife, Ann. Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Neat of Skokie, IL, and Trudy Neal Ferger of Wadsworth, IL; grandchildren, David, Brenda, Thomas, and William Ferger, and Elizabeth and Rosemary Larsen; great-grandson, Aiden Ferger Braim; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by is wife of 58 years in 2008, Ann M. Neal; and his parents, Arthur and Christine Neal.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2009, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, IL. Private burial services will be held at a later date at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
