Lucille Julia Angelos (nee Welter), 92, of Zion, IL died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Lucille was born July 15, 1918 in Sturgeon Bay, WI and came to Zion in 1949 after living in Kenosha and Waukegan. She attended nurses training at St. Therese in Waukegan followed by entering the Navy during WWII to serve as a Registered Nurse, eventually achieving the rank of Lt. J.G. She married Frank John Angelos on May 14, 1946 at St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan. Lucille retired in 1974 from St. Therese after 25 years as a labor and delivery nurse. After retirement she furthered her career as an industrial nurse at Johns-Manville in Waukegan. She was a Charter Member of Our Lady of Humility Church of Beach Park where she also belonged to Legion Of Mary, the Women's Guild, and sang in the choir. She also belonged to Catholic Women's Club of Lake County and Homemakers Extension Organization. She also served as a literary coach at the Zion Library. Her hobbies included braiding rugs, china painting, knitting and crocheting. Survivors include her four children Judith Ann (David) Larsen of Beach Park, Frank R. (Christine) Angelos of Gurnee, John J. Angelos of Waukegan, and Thomas C. (Joy) Angelos of Waukegan; ten grandchildren Lance and Mark Larsen, Rachel (Darrell) Wiatrowski, Kari (Tim) Knight, and Anthony J., Jessica, Christopher, Erica, Amy, and Sarah Angelos; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Evan, and Chase Larsen, Rylan and Reese Wiatrowski, and Ava and Elle Knight; Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park, IL. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to either National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163, or American Cancer Society, Lake County Regional Office, 100 Tri-State International, Suite 125, Lincolnshire, IL 60069have been suggested.
