Lucille J. "Lucy" Ebert (nee Baxman), 77, of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, with her children and grandchildren by her side.
She was born September 2, 1935 in Marinette, WI. She attended Deerfield Grammar School and graduated from Highland Park High School. She married Edward "Ted" Ebert on September 15, 1956 in Lake Forest, IL. She retired to Boynton Beach, FL, and returned to Waukegan one year ago. She was a former parishioner at Our Lady of Humility Church prior to her retirement. She was employed as an operator for Illinois Bell Telephone, worked at Highland Park News, and was a caregiver for family and friends. She formerly worked at Victory Memorial Hospital Home Health Care. Lucy was a former Bingo player and worker at Our Lady of Humility Church. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and embroidery but her true passion was crocheting. She was also an avid crossword puzzle solver but most of all she enjoyed being "Mimi" to her beloved grandchildren.
Survivors include her children Geri (Tom) Cosgrove of Waukegan, IL, Doug (Jane) Ebert of Zion, IL, Ann (Brian) Cyr of Weston, WI, Ellen (Dave) Lotz of Beach Park, IL, and Joe Ebert of Gurnee, IL; nine grandchildren Kristi (Mark) Casamento, Jen Lotz, Jody (Bradley) Hornung, Megan (Brad) Zarda, Jeremy Cyr, Katie Cosgrove, Michael Cosgrove, Kay Ebert, and Elena Ebert; and two great-grandchildren Kaia Casamento, and Ava Hornung.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ted Ebert in 1992; her first born son Rick Ebert in 1977; and her parents Roy and Milburn Baxman.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2013, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Research in lieu of flowers has been suggested.
