Mabel Augusta Ball, née Naffziger, was born in Washington, Illinois on August 6, 1908 and died November 8, 2016, 108 years old. Mabel grew up on a farm in Zion, Illinois. Her life was animated by her faith in God. She was a Sunday school teacher and church pianist and was blessed with a bright soprano voice and was a ready soloist when opportunities came. She had an easy laugh and was loved and admired by those who knew her. A quilt-maker, pie baker and lover of “good music,” she leaves a legacy of love and gentle goodness to her family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Ardyth (William Peterson); Stephany (Howard Hull); Richard (Nancy); and Donald (Brenda), 21 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was a beloved matriarch.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stephen, son, Douglas, and his wife, Connie and grandson, Eric Ball, son of Donald and Brenda.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, December 29 at 1 p.m. Covenant Village of Northbrook, Town Hall, 2625 Techny Road , Northbrook, Illinois 60062.
