Margie Murrell, 87, of Zion, died on Monday, November 10, 2008 at home, surrounded by her family and friends.
Margie was born June 14, 1921 in Leesburg, FL, was raised in Itawamba County, Mississippi and has lived in Zion most of her life. She was a founding member of Zion Second Baptist Church where she also served as church pianist. Margie retired from Whiteside Draperies in Zion.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Riehl of Zion; one son, Randy Murrell of Beach Park; seven grandchildren, Teresa (Al) Burke, Greg (Mari) Eckerle, Tosha (Tommy) Wilson, Nicole Alexander, Damian Carlin, Rebecca Murrell and Rachel Murrell; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Burke, Dalton Alexander and Alexis Alexander; and one sister, Jettie Burcham of Tupelo, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; one brother, Carlton; and her parents, Elisha and Isabelle Gillentine.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2008, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion and again on Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church, 1975 Hopewell-Keys Road, Fulton, MS, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. C.D. Hood officiating. Interment will follow at Keys Cemetery, ltawamba County, Mississippi.
