Marie Beith

1913 — July 30, 2009

Marie Elizabeth Beith (nee Dean), passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion, Illinois. She was born September 28, 1913 at home in North Buena Vista, Iowa to William and Elizabeth Dean. She moved to Illinois at a young age and then in 1933 she married John W. Beith. Marie and John raised their five children in Zion and retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas where they remained until John's health failed and they returned back home to Illinois. During Marie's full life she enjoyed traveling and the opportunity to visit the place of her husband's birth in Houston, Scotland. Marie was also an accomplished artist and her family continues to enjoy the beautiful paintings she completed during her lifetime. During Marie's lifetime she was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother aunt and grandmother. In every role she had she loved completely and she was loved completely in return. When Marie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, her loving daughters Jean and Barbara, and their husbands, devoted their lives to making sure she was well cared for. Although we started missing her a long time ago because of her illness, we will continue to miss those special moments when her smile, her laugh and that sparkle in her eye returned. We will cherish our memories of our sweet Marie forever. Marie will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her children, Jean (Fred) Roberts of Beach Park, Barbara Torres of Waukegan, Jack Beith of Valdosta, Georgia and Jim Beith and Dean Beith both of Beach Park; her grandchildren, Kim (Rod)_ Kenley, Jackie Valentine, Sue (Bobby) Salter, Jim (Cassie) Petty, Annette (Rick) Evans, Dean Beith, Roger Beith, Brian Beith Golweitzer, Elizabeth Kelly and Robert Beith; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her sister, Florence Goetz of Rosecrans, Illinois, Ann Gurioli of Virginia, Betty Capone of New Jersey, Catherine Dean of Iowa and her brother, Raymond Dean of Iowa. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Beith in 1992; and her son-in-law, Mario Torres earlier this year.
