Marie enjoyed her family as well as her many friends. She loved traveling, camping with family, bike riding, golfing, bowling, cross country skiing, all kinds of music, dancing, and walking in the early mornings with her friends before meeting for coffee at one of the local restaurants. More recently she actively participated in Operation Christmas Child which is a mission outreach to poverty stricken children throughout the world. She was a member of Christ Community Church where she served with women’s ministries and funeral dinners. She was active in the Zion Senior Citizens, the Zion Red Hats, and the Ladies Golf League. Marie was the mother of James (Kathy) Hacker of Marion, Ohio, Doreen (Edward) Matteson, and John (Carol) Hacker of Winthrop Harbor, IL; the grandmother of the late Aaron (Kim) Hacker, Jason (Rylie) Hacker, David (Becki) Matteson, Robert (Joy) Matteson, Amanda Hacker, and Nicole Hacker; the great grandmother of Dylan Hacker, Samantha Hacker, Kirsten Matteson, Todd and Bethany Tanner. Besides her husband Art, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ben Salica, and her grandson Aaron S. Hacker. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, with Pastor Ken Langley, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorials to Camp Zion have been suggested. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Aurora Medical Center and Rolling Hills Manor Rehab for their love and care.
