Marilyn Ann Awe,80,(nee Nelson) of Zion, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 5,2012, at home. Marilyn was born June 19, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI, and married Myron Donald Awe on February 4, 1961. She served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War era and was decorated with the "National Defense Service Medal" and honorably discharged on February 14, 1957. Marilyn was a member of St. Marys Lutheran Church in Kenosha, WI, and also the Kenosha Red Hatters Group, "The Ruby Rascals". She retired from the U.S. Post Office, North Chicago, in 1994. Survivors include four children, Michael R. (Robin) Awe of Durango,CO, Mark E.(Cathy)Awe of Rio Rancho, NM, Miriam A. (Edward) Myslewiec of Schaumburg, IL, and Marlene I. (Brian Biechman) of Zion, IL; nine grandchildren, Kelly B. Campbell (Stricevic), Luke D. Stricevic, Amy C. Currie, Paige N. Myslewiec, Nicole M. Awe, Rebecca L. Awe, Justin M. Awe, Ally M. Myslewiec, and John T. Awe; and great-grandchildren, Dawson L. Campbell and Brianne E. Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron, in 1994. At Marilyns request, a memorial service will be held on a future date (not yet decided) at her childhood church in Skanee, MI, the Zion Lutheran Church. A private gathering of family and friends will be at her daughter, Marlenes home from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at 1500 20th St. Zion, IL, on Sunday, July 8, 2012.
