Marjorie Burgess passed through the door of heaven on Saturday, February 13, 2021. She was born in Wichita, Kansas March 24, 1928. At the age of three, she moved with her family to Illinois and grew up in Knoxville. She attended Knox college in Galesburg, Illinois. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1950. She married Ralph Burgess in 1950 and moved to Zion, Illinois. She loved serving her church, Christ Community Church, and was active in serving in her PEO chapter (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She was an avid reader and enjoyed golf.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; two brothers, John and Jarvis Cecil; her parents, Kenneth and Mildred Cecil; sister-in-law, Carolyn Roberts; and nephew, Scott Burgess.
She is survived by her son John, of Highwood, IL; her daughter Barbara, of Madison, WI; her grandchildren, Katie and Tom Burgess; great-grandson, Colton; brother-in-law, Jay Burgess of Ft. Myers, FL; niece, Jill Boyce of Zion, IL; and many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
