Marjorie A. Guy, October 13, 1921 - May 9, 2016.
Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law and aunt went to be with her Lord peacefully with her family by her side at Condell Medical Center due to complications from a fall.
Mom was born in Zion and lived there her entire life. She graduated from the Zion Parochial Schools and Zion Benton H.S. She worked at Zion State Bank for 25 years where she made many friends in both fellow employees and customers. After retiring from the bank, she worked as a hostess at Rooks Restaurant and for Beach Park School District #3. She was a lifelong member of Christ Community Church (Christian Catholic Church).
Mom was a very talented knitter. All her grandchildren had beautiful blankets and sweaters. She loved playing Mexican Train Dominoes, playing slot machines, bowling and lunch on Friday at the Cake Box. She finally had to give up bowling at age 94. Her deepest passion, though, was for her family. She was always game for anything, including getting a tattoo in her 90’s with 2 of her granddaughters. “ I can’t” were two words that were not in her vocabulary.
She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Krelle of California, sons Denny (Sue) of Colorado and Marty (Pam) of Antioch. Grandchildren Shari (Joe) of California, Scott of California, Jennifer (Jeff) of Colorado, Lyndsey (Kyle) of Florida, Brenan (Dina) of Lake Villa, Jordan (Jenny) of Antioch and Corinne (Matt) of Antioch. 10 Great Grandchildren Ava, Ella, Joey, Carter, Kellen, Nolan, Teagan, Caden, Finnley and Cavan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfie, an infant son Michael, son-in-law Steve Krelle, parents Carl and Agnes Bennett and sister Shirlee Yonke. Also 7 brothers-in-law and 7 sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 14th at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A service will follow from 2 pm-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Zion in care of Christ Community Church or Advocate Hospice 1441 Branding Avenue, Suite 200 Downers Grove, Il 60515.
