Mary Elizabeth Olivares-Garner (nee Rezin), 67, of Zion, IL passed away peacefully, in her home, on Sunday, August 8, 2021.
Mary was born June 23, 1954 in Oak Park, IL to George and Irma Rezin. Mary attended Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, IL; she was a previous resident of Round Lake Beach, IL where she graduated from Round Lake Senior High School. She later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. Later in life, Mary worked in retail, was employed by Guaranty Bank, and then retired from Big Lots Inc. in 2018. Mary was loved and best known by her customers as the red, white and blue lady. She was very patriotic; she was a Bob Ross inspired, expert oil painting artist and enjoyed micro-bead art.
Mary was a devoted and loving wife to James G. Garner and a loving mother to Nicholas ‘Nick’ Olivares and Vincent ‘Vinnie’ Olivares. Also surviving her are family members, Phil Rezin, Barbara Rezin, Nicholas and Erika Olivares, Vincent and Shaye Olivares, Charles and Leanardo Olivares, Mari Raye, William Joseph and Brett Michael Garner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Irma Rezin; and brother, Russel ‘Russ’ Rezin.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will follow at 7:30 p.m.
