Mary Katherine Simms

Mary Katherine Simms, 91, passed away on August 25, 2024 at her home, Parkside Manor, in Kenosha, WI.

Mary was born June 15, 1933 in Port Huron, MI. Mary married Kenneth on June 16, 1956 in her hometown. With Kenneth being in the military they traveled around being stationed in San Diego, CA and Yokohama, Japan before his final transfer back to the Great Lakes where they settled down in Beach Park, IL. She worked as a Band Booster, and a bus driver for the Beach Park School system and as a water safety instructor. Later, Mary continued her education at the College of Lake County to become a Registered Nurse. After graduating she found employment at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, IL. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waukegan, and the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as the Sorority Beta Sigma Phi.

Mary is survived by her children, Steven G. Simms, and Jeffery S. Simms; grandchildren, Jacob D. Simms, Aaron B. Simms and 1 great-grandchild.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Simms; mother Katherine H. Sinclair, and father, James E. Sinclair

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6:oo p.m..
