Mary Lynn Stried, 70, of Zion, Illinois, died on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at home. Mary Lynn was born November 20, 1939 in Zion. She was an active member of Christ Community Church of Zion where she was also involved with Camp Zion, Zion Passion Play, taught Sunday school, was at one time the secretary for the Conservatory of Music and she served as the Church wedding coordinator. She was employed for eleven years at Crown Manor Nursing Home in Zion and prior to that had worked at B.A.T. in Zion, Bradley Security in Winthrop Harbor and Christ Community Church. Mary Lynn loved arts and crafts and enjoyed camping. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Loren; her adoptive grandchild, Marlene Miller of Zion and her children, Rachel and Brandon; her God-child, Michelle (Bruce) Taulu Catlin of Zion, and her daughter, Amanda; brothers and sisters, John (Jan) Taylor of Janesville, Wisconsin, Roger Taylor of Waukegan, Len "Red"(Sharon) Nelson of New Carlisle, Indiana, Tim (Maureen) Hart of Grayslake, Byron (Martha) Leech of Gunnerson, Colorado, Janet Treadway of Florida and Richard (Fern) Burgess of Oklahoma; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Kaye) Stried of Beach Park and Harold (Shirley) Stried of Marion, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; and many special children of Zion who she really cared about and loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Jabez and Edith Taylor; brother, Phillip Lapello; sister, Gloria Brookshire; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Ethel Stried. Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, 2010, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, Illinois, where a celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jon Wiziarde officiating. Memorial donations to Camp Zion ministries of Christ Community Church have been suggested.
