MaryDe Hotham (nee Newcomer), 92, was called home to the Lord on May
21, 2012 after a brief battle with pneumonia.
Dee was a lifelong resident of Zion until health issues
resulted in a move to St. Louis, Missouri to be closer to her
daughters. Music was always a central part of her life. She studied
at the Zion Conservatory of Music, sang with a trio, "Shades of
Blue", on the radio, and also sang in the church choir. A devoted
wife and mother, she was also an avid golfer, bowler and volleyball
player. She was a very active member of the Lake County Council of
the Navy League and the American Legion Auxiliary. She especially
cherished her group of friends, the Sewing Bee, who have loved and
supported each other since childhood.
She is survived by her son, Jeff (Sherry) Hotham,
daughters Diane (Richard) Mark and Andrea Hotham, grandchildren
Edward (Tracy) Herold, Katherine Herold, Jacqueline Mark and Edward
Mark, as well as dear nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Hotham,
brothers Carl Newcomer and Paul Newcomer, sisters Marceil Bullivant
and Miriam Wall, and parents P.B. Newcomer and Mayme Garrett Newcomer.
