Maryon Lush, 93, of Zion died on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at home.
Maryon was born August 14, 1915 in Mass City, Michigan and was raised in Waukegan. After graduating from Maine Township High School in 1933 she moved back to Waukegan and on September 18, 1936 she married John R. Lush in Zion. She was employed for many years by Zion Industries and later retired as the first Woman Supervisor of Zion Township.
Maryon was a member of Christ Community Church of Zion where she served for many years on the cast of Zion Passion Play. She was also a member of ZONTA Club of Waukegan and along with her husband John did volunteer work for over twenty years at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. She enjoyed traveling with her husband John, especially around the world photographing solar eclipses.
In her later years she became an accomplished artist and left us many beautiful paintings.
Survivors include her children, Bette Jo (Gordon) Ohmstead of Zion and Brad (Jude Fletcher-Lush) Lush of Zion; four grandchildren, Lisa (Andrew) Hollard, Jeff Ohmstead, Amy Meadows and Andrea (Leo) Barnes; and five great-grandchildren, Duncan and Aidan Hollard, Jackson Ohmstead, and Ezekiel and Zoe Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, August and Josefina Wilson, and by two brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie memorial Drive, Zion, with Pastor Ken Langley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either Camp Zion or Zion Passion Play, both ministries of Christ Community Church, have been suggested.
