Maxine Storey Krause, 89, of Zion, IL died on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her home.
Maxine was born July 24, 1922 in Zion. In early 1941 she began her 43 year secretarial career in the Credit Department at Abbott Labs, retiring in 1984. She met Ira Krause, an Abbott pharmacist, and they married on June 21, 1958. Their milestone 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated in June of 2008. Maxine was a member of Christ Community Church of Zion where she helped in the nursery. She was also a member and Past President of the Illinois Dunesland Garden Club, Zion Woman's Club, and Ladies of the Round Table. She was also a member of Women's Auxiliary of Zion-Benton American Legion Post 865 and she taught remedial reading at East School in Zion. She and Ira enjoyed traveling and have been to Europe three times, but the highlight of any trip abroad was returning home to the U.S.A.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ira; brothers, Richard (Byrdine) Storey and Burt (Carol) Storey; sisters-in-law Polly Storey Banks, and Jan Storey; and 15 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ruth Storey; brothers, Victor (Edna), Don, Jim, Roger, and Loren Storey; sisters, Virginia Wirth, Jessie (Ross) Burgess, Jean Storey, Adelle (Ed) Groome; and sisters-in-law, Kay Storey and Eleanor Storey.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Ken Langley officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to either Camp Zion or Circle Center have been suggested.
