Melva Collins, 92, of Zion passed away March 22, 2007 at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Zion. Melva was born November 19, 1914 in Cleveland, Tennesse, and lived in Zion most of her life. She was a charter member and was very active in the First Baptist Church in Winthrop Harbor. Survivors include one son Bob (Sandy) Collins of Zion; four grandchildren Bobbie Sue Collins, LaDonnica Collins, Brad (Michelle) Collins, Brandon Collins; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Collins in 1996; one son Bradford K. Collins in 1984; and one brother J. R. Bradford in 1969. Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 27th, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 3009 9th Street, Winthrop Harbor, with Dr. Michael Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to First Baptist Church building fund has been suggested.
