Merle Grace Kyrk, 96, of Zion died on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Azura Memory Care, Kenosha, WI.
She was born January 25, 1919 in Zion. She was a life long member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Zion where was active in various Women’s Groups of the Church throughout the years and worked for many years as the Church secretary. She retired at age 65 from Central Junior High School where she worked as secretary to the Principal.
Survivors include two daughters Sharran (Bill) Warren of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Sandy (Robert) Mitchell of Pleasant Prairie, WI; five grandchildren Michael (Julie) Warren, Christopher (Phyllis) Warren, Patricia (Scott) Leick, Kyrsten (Dan) Hitzeman, and Amanda Mitchell; six great-grandchildren Sophia, Elyssa, William, Amber, Dakota, and Aiden; sister-in-law Gardia Hough of Kingman, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1988; son Charles Robert “Bob” Kyrk in 2008; great-grandson Jonathan Welles; brothers Don (and the late Elaine) Hough and Ken Hough; and her parents Frank and Mary Hough.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be Wednesday, May 27th, at 11:00 a.m. at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL, meet directly at cemetery. Memorial donations to Memorial United Methodist Church in her memory has been suggested by the family.
