Michael Allen DeBaets

Michael Allen DeBaets, 70, of Morristown, TN and formerly of Winthrop Harbor, IL died March 20, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Michael was born October 12, 1945 and graduated from Zion Benton Township Highschool in 1963. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force with 1 year in VietNam. He worked for USPS in Waukegan, IL before transferring to Morristown, TN, and retired in 2008. He is also a member of the Morristown VFW. He is survived by his sons, Michael “Kirk” (Sara) DeBaets and Stephen “Kory” DeBaets; sisters, Pat (Neal) Fisel of Surprise, AZ, and Susie (Tom) Christensen of Winthrop Harbor, IL; step-children, Renee, Richard, and Rebecca Harbin; 4 grandchildren, Samantha, Jordan, and Stephan DeBaets, and Ashley Harbin; 5 great-grandchildren; nephews, Brad (Chris) Fisel and Bryan (Barb) Fisel; and 6 great-nephews and niece. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary “Pat” in 2005 and father, Joseph A DeBaets in 1987; grandparents, Mandus and Mary DeBates and Clarence and Pearl White; and step-grandmother, Namah. Mike Loved living down in Tennessee and going on outings around the area, loved fishing, and cooking was his passion for his friends. The family would like to thank Larry Evon, Rome Lawson and his friends at the VFW for the care you gave Mike before his passing. A memorial will be held at the VFW in Morristown, TN on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
