Mildred “Mimi” Georgene Mosey Drake
Our mother, our devoted matriarch, left the arms of her family on May 14, 2024 at the age of 92. Born May 5th, 1932 in a mine yard in Kincaid, Illinois, Mimi was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Mosey, sisters Mary Elizabeth, Dorothy and Florence, husband Emerson “Jack” Drake, his parents Rev O.D. and Esther Drake, infant daughter Sue Anne and grandson Michael Hurley.
Surviving Mimi are her Drake brothers-in-law, Charles and Edward (Sandy), children Emerson Drake (Gaetana), Mimi Johnson (Ron), Bill Drake (Bonnie), Janet Hurley (Tim) Jacque Nelson, Brett Drake (Sheryl) 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters, a large extended family and dear friends.
Beautiful and popular, Mimi and her best friend Rowena reigned over the Taylorville high school “Debs”. While many sought her hand, her heart was won by handsome, blue eyed Jack Drake. Mimi remained dedicated to Jack and raising their children her entire life. Strong believers in family, Mimi and Jack were the rock upon which their children raised their own families.
Mimi and Jack had celebrated 58 years of marriage. Mimi’s desire was that her memorial be dedicated to celebrating their lives together.
Please join us as we celebrate the lives of our parents.
