Engh, Mildred "Lucille," age 94, of Beach Park, formerly of Gurnee. passed away on April 24, 2016 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion. Lucille was born on November 18, 1921 in Pence, IN. the third of seven children of the late Harley M. and Florence (Lohmeyer) Clark. She attended Millburn Grade School after her family moved from Indiana to Harvey and then Danville IL, settling in Millburn. She was a graduate of Warren High School class of 1939. On September 21, 1946 she married Clayton Engh at Millburn Congregational Church. They raised three children, living in Wadsworth and Gurnee.
Lucille is one of the longest standing members of the Millburn Congregational Church, which she joined August 7, 1938. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, as well as a member of the Ladies Aid and was a charter member of MYLO (organized in 1944). She was a 60+ year member of the Millburn Chapter OES, serving as Worthy Matron in 1974 and was Treasurer for almost 20 years. She was an avid gardener, canning and freezing nearly everything she grew. She was an excellent seamstress, loved doing crossword puzzles. playing UNO and Scrabble, and baking. Her chocolate cake, Julekake, fudge and lemon pies were always in demand.
Lucille is survived by her daughters: JoEllen (Larry) Roebuck of Beach Park, Kristine Franks of Kenosha, Judy (Mike) Nader of Lake Villa: Grandchildren: Matt (Dana) Roebuck, Jennifer Roebuck Styx, Danel Franks, Robert, David & Derek (Aleen) Nader: Great grandchildren: Olivia Roebuck, Emma Styx, Clayton, Traigh & Reznor Franks, Nathan, Kassidy, Jorja and Danielle Nader. She is also survived by brothers John (JoAnn) Clark, Glenn (Judy) Clark, and Robert Clark; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clayton in 2000, 1 infant son, sisters & brothers-in-law Berneice (Walter) Fountaine, Juanita (Ray) Hauser, Thelma (James) Bonner, as well as sister-in-law & brother-in-law Geraldine (Richard) DusSault, and sister-in-law Anne Clark.
A special heartfelt Thank You from Mildred's family to the staff of Rolling Hills Manor who provided Mom loving and compassionate care the many years she was there. Special thanks to the 400 Hall nurses, CNA's, resident helpers, and housekeeping staff who were so attentive and caring.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Millburn Church, 19037 W. Grass Lake Rd., Millburn, with visitation one hour before. Interment will follow at Millburn Cemetery. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials be made to Rolling Hills Manor, 3615 16th St., Zion, IL 60099 (Activity Dept. or Employees Christmas Fund) in her memory.
