Nancy Hawkins

Nancy M. Hawkins, 46, of Zion, Illinois, formerly of the Tremont-Mackinaw, Illinois area, died on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at her home following a long battle with cancer. She was born October 13, 1961 in Pekin, Illinois. She and her husband, Kenneth, moved to Zion in 2000 from Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waukegan and she was employed at All State Insurance in Vernon Hills. While in Jacksonville, Florida, she was a Cub Scout Leader, a Girl Scout Leader and she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. A Navy spouse for twenty-six years, she also served as Navy Ombudsman for five years. Nancy was an active fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in McLean County, Illinois and she was involved with the American Lung Association "Hustle Up The Hancock" in Chicago, Illinois. Survivors include her husband of twenty-six years, Kenneth D. Hawkins; children Jesse M. Hawkins of Waukegan and Lori A. Hawkins of Zion; her father and mother, Kenneth and Hazel Stansbury of Tremont, Illinois; siblings Judy Stansbury of Bloomington, Illinois, Marsha (Lance) Ware of Nikiski, Alaska and Linda Stansbury of Bloomington, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, June 30, 2008, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 1st, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 North Delaney Road, Waukegan, Illinois, with Pastor Jeffrey Koth officiating. Further visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Haensel Funeral Home, 501 S. Orchard, Mackinaw, Illinois with interment immediately following at Mackinaw Township Cemetery. Memorial donations to American Cancer Society Relay for Life of McLean County, Illinois, have been suggested.
