Nancy Jean Ramey (née Menees), 75, of Beach Park, Illinois, was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 19, 1949, in Elmhurst, Illinois, Nancy was the cherished daughter of Charles Elmer and Dorothy Marie (Robb) Menees. On July 2, 1966, Nancy married Billy “Bill” Ramey Sr. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their family in Beach Park, Illinois. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Nancy embraced her role as the heart of the family. She found joy in cooking, planning gatherings, and creating a warm, welcoming home where all felt loved and accepted.
For 27 years, Nancy worked as a dedicated Teacher’s Assistant at Oak Crest Elementary School in Beach Park, where she skillfully and efficiently ran the library. Her passion for education and care for students left a lasting impact on many. She retired in 2023. Her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her brothers, Gerald Menees, Charles Menees, and Billy Joe Menees; her sister, Phyllis Rodgers; her beloved children, Billy (Tina) Ramey Jr., John (Rhonda) Ramey Sr., Pamela (William) Young, and Lindsey Radakovich (Armando Lopez). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Tania Miller, Kristen Ramey, Stacey Ramey, Amber Zacharias, John Ramey Jr., Vincent Young, Kealy Romig, Vinny Lopez, Reilly Radakovich, and Elena Lopez; and great-grandmother to Kamarii, Brayden, Jayden, Maliyah, John “JJ,” Mariyah, Elijah, Logan, Arya, and Samson. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Bill; her parents and a beloved stepmother, Mary Ruth Menees; and her sister, Patricia “Patty” Barden.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois. A second visitation will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church, 3401 Springbrook Road, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin officiated by Rick Brown Jr.. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, Illinois.
