Nicolas Peters, 81, of Beach Park, Illinois, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 with his Angel by his side. Nicolas was born July 3, 1929 in Edy, Illinois and lived in this area all of his life. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor where he also drove church bus and did inside and outside maintenance including snow plowing and mowing. Nicolas retired as a truck driver for Mid America Bag Company, North Chicago. He was an avid Cubs fan, Bears fan and loved life to it's fullest. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, his Angel as he lovingly called her, whom he married on August 31, 1973, Ilasene; children, Stanley (Sandy) Smith of Rainbow City, Alabama, Tammy (Mario) Ingoglia of Gurnee, Illinois, Sandra (Wayne) Tamashiro of Honolulu, Hawaii, Sheila (Jim) Hanson of Beach Park, Illinois, Yvonne "Bonnie" (Andrew) Snider of Inman, South Carolina, Robert (Mynda) Peters of Milford, Kansas, and Kelly Peters of Kenosha, Wisconsin; eighteen grandchildren, Crystal, Vinny, Marisa, Travis, Cyndy, Sheila, Brenda, Scott, Tim, Justin, Jacob, Jared, Rebecca, Matt, Garrett, Chivaughnne, Lauren, and Emma; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three brothers, George (Betsey) Peters of Wadsworth, Illinois, Jimmy Peters of Oklahoma, and David (Deanna) Peters of Zion, Illinois; two sisters, Kathryn Bottger of Checota, Oklahoma and Helen (Don) Banta of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; and his two dear friends, Jim Dozier and Olie Grant, both of Beach Park, Illinois. He was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Peters; brothers, Dan, Tom, Jerry, Ted and Harry; and his parents, Steve and Elsie Peters. Visitation will be Friday, November 19, 2010, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Michael Brown, officiating. Interment will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Benton-Greenwood Cemetery, Benton Township, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor have been suggested.
