Patricia L. Capp

1929 — June 23, 2021

Patricia Louise (Baughman) Capp, 92, a resident of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin for the past five years, lived most of her life with her beloved husband and family in Zion, Illinois. She went home to be with her Lord on June 23, 2021 A.D. She was born to Lester and Cleota (Carmer) Baughman in Zion, IL, and attended the Zion Parochial Schools through high school. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from National College of Education in Evanston, IL, in 1951. Arthur Oliver Capp, Jr (“Ollie”) took an interest in “Patty Lou” after he returned from his military service and they were married on September 1st 1950. They soon moved to La Crescenta, CA and lived there for 5 years where they attended the La Crescenta Baptist Church where she began teaching Sunday School and was introduced to Child Evangelism fellowship (CEF). For many years, she hosted Good News Clubs in her homes in California and Illinois and taught hundreds of children about Jesus. In 1955, Patricia and Ollie moved back to Zion, IL. A lifelong member of Christ Community Church (formerly Christian Catholic Church), she served in various ministry positions; a Sunday School and Bible Studies teacher, a cast member in the Zion Passion Play, a staff member at Camp Zion Youth Ministries and was a deaconess in the church. She excelled at hospitality and was a gracious hostess to many. She especially enjoyed having missionaries in her home during CCC’s annual Convocation week. While Patricia never pursued a formal teaching career, she was a teacher for several years at Winkie Bear Preschool, a ministry of CCC and worked with students in the remedial reading program at Zion Elementary Schools. She always loved children and looked for opportunities to teach and to be a positive influence in their lives beginning with her own eight children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as the children in her church family, and children throughout the community through Child Evangelism Fellowship and Good News Clubs. She is survived by her beloved children Patrick (Deborah) Capp, Christine (Gary) Bereiter, Lisa (Dave) Roberts, Stephen (Carol) Capp, Jerrie Capp, John (Kathy) Capp, Dan (Jill) Capp, and Maribeth (Tom)Werth. Grandchildren: Amy Capp, Carena (Andrew) Nault, Greg (Amy) Bereiter, and Katy (Earl) Nez, Jeremy (Angie) Childers, Benjamin (Sabrina) Childers, Keith (Collyn) Capp, Laura Capp, Amanda (Jacob) Barnard, Ahna Capp, Michael Capp, Geneva Capp, Sarah (Christian) Willis and Joseph Capp, Brooke (Jake) Madison, Brittany Capp, Jessica Capp, Theodore (Emily) Capp, Adelle Capp, Michael Werth, Luke (Hannah) Werth, Jessica (Morgan) Ragsdale, Jacob Werth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her son Michael Lloyd Capp, and her grandson Matthew Scott Capp. Patricia's life can be encapsulated as a woman who loved God with all her heart and one who treasured her family, those in her surrounding community and throughout the world as evidenced by her faithful support of the Missions Program at CCC, Camp Zion, CEF and ZEMA, an international missions organization. Even into her 90s at her assisted living facility, Patricia was on mission to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and his love with others. “And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”” Luke‬ ‭10:27‬ ‭NASB A visitation will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church located at 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL 60099.
