Paul R. Patenaude Sr., 71, of Zion, IL died August 17, 2013 at home after a long battle with dementia.
Paul was born June 11, 1942 in Salem, Massachusetts. He graduated from Hamilton High School in Massachusetts and joined the United States Navy. After completing his service in the U.S. Navy, Paul worked for IBEW Local 150. In November of 1960, he married Frances J. Koppen. Paul was a member of Christ Community Church, he was a deacon, elder, usher, and a Zion Passion Play cast member. He was on the Waukegan Christian School Board, involved in the Lake County Radio Control Club, SOWERS, and a JATC Instructor.
Paul is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Paul Jr. (Judy) Patenaude of Midlothian, TX, Michael (Connie) Patenaude of Zion, IL, Susan (Stuart) Romig of Zion, IL, and John (Heather) Patenaude of Winthrop Harbor, IL; grandchildren, Scott, Malia, Anna, Jennifer, Benjamin, Cody, Ryan, Andrew, Miles, Luke, and Clark; Sisters, Gail (Bob) Chute of PA and Joyce (Greg) Grotton of ME; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Jeannette Patenaude and a brother, Richard Patenaude.

A visitation will be held August 24, 2013 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ken Langley, officiating. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to Christ Community Church Missions Fund or Camp Zion would be appreciated.
