Philip C. Wright, 92, of Zion, Illinois and Punta Gorda, Florida, died on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Philip was born May 20, 1917 in Zion. He was a member of Christ Community Church of Zion, Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Punta Gorda and the former Bonnie Brook Baptist Church in Waukegan. He retired in 1982 as Assistant Vice President of Zion State Bank and Trust Company having worked there for over 40 years. Philip also belonged to the Zion Guards, Zion-Benton Chamber of Commerce, Zion Police & Fire Commission, Zion Exchange Club, the American Bankers Association, and he served on Zion District 6 School Board. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife and best friend Dorothy, whom he married on April 8, 1949 in the Zion Chapel at the College Building; children, Vicky Wright of Waukegan, Peter (Becky) Wright of Zion and John (Beth) Wright of Lafayette, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Leanne, Christopher, Nicole, Lauren, MacGregor and Samuel; and great-grandchildren Britton, Madeline, and Calvin.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur F. Wright and Lester H. Wright; and his parents, Arthur A. and Elizabeth J. Wright.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to Christ Community Church.
