Phillip Wagner

Phillip "Punk" J. Wagner, 72, of Beach Park, IL, formerly of Lake Villa, IL, was taken home to eternal life on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at home. Phil was born November 23, 1937, in Libertyville, and graduated from Antioch High School in 1956. He married Nancy Thibedeau on April 15, 1983, in Waukegan. Phil retired from Johns-Manville in Waukegan in December of 1998 after nearly 42 years of employment. He attended the Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church. Phil was a veteran of the United States Marines. He was a wonderful and caring, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Phil loved all sports (especially the Cleveland Indians) and had a highly "statistical nature" when it came to ordinary life. Survivors include his wife of 27 ½ years, Nancy; children, Todd (Teri) Thibedeau of Oak Lawn, IL, Ty (Jenny) Wagner of Kenosha, WI, Aimee (Brian) Krawczyk of Waukegan, IL, Tara (Ronald) Sorrentino of Zion, IL, and Keri (Kyle) Upchurch of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Bianca, Brian, Nick, Adam, Holland, Landrik, Alannah, Braeyah, and Nathan; great-grand daughter, MacKenzie; sisters, Lois (Roy) Hartman of Salem, WI, and Donna (LeRoy) Rosenberg of Bristol, WI; brother, Bob (Diane) Wagner of Wilmot, WI; many nieces and nephews and cousins; and childhood best friend, Jim Fish of Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Philip and Charlotte Wagner. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Winthrop Harbor, 600 College Ave., Winthrop Harbor with Rev. Ron Greene officiating. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. An interment service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Pineview Memorial Park, 10750 W. Beach Rd., Beach Park. Memorial donations are suggested to the United Methodist Church of Winthrop Harbor or Advocate Condell Hospice.
